Never Done Before.."All Women Bike Build"

Gurnee, Illinois Fatman Inn bar and restaurant in Gurnee, IL was the host for "Open Road Radio's 2nd Annual Fat-Fest" held on August 20th, 2006, and the home to a never before seen event that featured five female bike builders, coming together to build an old school chopper in front of a live audience. Gina Woods of Open Road Radio is hired by Fatman Inn each year to coordinates Fat Fest. With her ten years of experience and knowledge AND contacts in the Motorcycle Industry, Gina and her crew successfully put on events locally and nationally and usually with a different theme each year!

Fat Fest 2006 was no exception...this event set an Industry record with the five female bike builders assembling the bike in just 6 hours and 50 minutes. The spectators as well as bike builders whom attended the bike event on August 20th, 2006 in Gurnee, Illinois were amazed at the team work, efficiency and professional way in which the bike was built.

Crowds cheered as the bike was started in victory of the completion of the build. A DVD of the build is on sale at www.openroadradio.com and on location with the bike as it "tours" the country raising monies for Breast Cancer research. The DVD of the day's event which featured - the "All Woman Bike Build", Open Road Radio entertainment, "Goin' South" - Southern fried rock n roll, an awesome all woman band - "Catfight" and a Vendors Alley, including motorcycle jewelry, products and services! It wouldn't be a great event without the best bike builders in the Midwest being present....custom shops and chops were all over the place! A great day of bikes, builders, babes, buns, burgers, brats, and...oh yeah root beer...what more can you ask for?

The Breast Cancer Awareness bike will go "on tour" the rest of this year and early next to be raffled ($10.00 tickets) in Spring 2007 at Daytona Beach Bike Week. A Video will be shot of the build on August 20th and then replayed at each and every tour location with all sponsors included. This is a 9-month promotion! DVD on sale...(this video will be produced for sale at all locations and websites!!)

The raffle will be held at the IMBBA's event at the Daytona International Speedway. 2nd Annual Bike Show held during Bike week 2007.

The five women bike builders were.... Chickie, from Vagabond Choppers, in Florida. Katie Putman from Mitch Bergeron's, and Jamie Gray from Huntington Beach Choppers both of California, Sarah Lyon from Kentucky, and JoAnn Bortles of Crazy Horse Custom Painting from North Carolina. These five women provided a wealth of talent and knowledge in bike building expertise. JoAnn designed the gas tank with her pink tribal flames and the Breast Cancer ribbon icon, while the other four females worked on the assembly of this special bike.

Crowds were impressed by the teamwork and expertise, displayed by the girls during the event's long bike build, and cheered at the end of the day when the bike was started up by Chickie, surrounded by the team. In celebration of their accomplishment the five shook up and poured beer all over themselves as well as the bike while the spectators continued to applaud their feat. All Five women bike builders are members of the IMBBA and were selected by the Gina Woods and the Association to come together in support of this worthy cause. "An All Woman-Bike Build"-A Never Done Before Event For Breast Cancer
August 20th 11-7 pm

Chicago, IL. -Gina Woods of Open Road Radio will emcee this historic event, as renowned women bike builders come together to combine their talent and skills in building a motorcycle in one afternoon in front of a live audience, to be raffled for Breast Cancer-“ANEVER DONE BEFORE EVENT, brought to you by Gina Woods of Open Road Radio ™!!

Gina Woods and crew will be emcee a day of excitement, thrills and fun and conduct interactive audience games and prize raffles, interview sponsors and event participants and hang with the crowd for one awesome show! “There’ll be hundreds of Midwest vendors in our Vendors Alley displaying their goods… and it wouldn’t be an event with out the Midwest’s best Bike Builders and shops present”…says Gina Woods…it’s been quite a feat putting this together, but I think I’ve brought a good idea to fruition and a group of great women for this build, bring the women and the men will follow!”

A four- class Bike Show will be hosted by the International Master Bike Builders Association. Jeff Starke and his crew will judge the Ride In bike show, to be awarded with trophies and prizes by the end of the day! Registration just $10.00 and all proceeds go to fight Breast Cancer.

“Goin South,” a Midwest favorite among riders, and “Cat Fight,” an all female band, will be rockin the place all day!

“This is a first time ever that a ‘bike will be built in a day’ by four (4) renowned WOMEN bike builders that have never worked or known each other prior to this event”… says Gina Woods who’s conception of the idea came through her ten years experience in the motorcycle industry thru talk radio. The builders are: Chickie of Vagabond Choppers, Inc. of Palm Beach, FL, Sarah Lyon (sarahlyon.com) of Louisville, KY, MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute) graduate Katie Putman of Mitch Bergeron in Palm Springs, CA, Joanne Bortles of Crazy Horse Painting in Charlotte, NC, and new addition MMI Graduate Jayme Gray of Huntington Beach Hogs & Choppers in CA.

Colleen Swartz of Big Shots Digital in Milwaukee, WI, will be photographing and covering the event for several publications.

Pixel Bros (ABC TV) Studios and E- TV producers are flying in to shoot this event for a TV pilot!
